In-depth investigations in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office, for the clarification of the event that happened on 24.07.2024, in the port of Saranda, where as a result of an explosion, a 52-year-old man lost his life.

As a result of in-depth professional and investigative actions, a citizen has been arrested who, together with the 52-year-old man, would place a quantity of explosives on a ship, which accidentally exploded, causing the death of the 52-year-old man.

The investigative structures of the Saranda Police Station, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, as a result of the in-depth investigative actions carried out, made it possible to elucidate and document with legal evidence the event that occurred on 24.06.2024, in the port of Saranda, where as a result of an explosion at sea, the citizen AN lost his life

As a result of the investigations, EM citizen, 35 years old, resident in Saranda, was detained.

It is suspected that this citizen, in cooperation with AN citizen, had planned to plant a quantity of explosives on one of the ships operating on the Sarandë-Corfuz route, for competitive reasons.

This quantity of explosives exploded accidentally, during the attempt to transport it and put it on the ship, and as a result the citizen AN lost his life. The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecution at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Saranda, for further actions./ CNA
