The man sentenced to life imprisonment for double murder is extradited from Italy.
The international police operation codenamed "Verdict", finalized in April 2024, in Italy to capture this citizen was carried out thanks to information provided by the Criminal Police Department of the State Police and exchanged by Interpol Tirana with Interpol Rome, the Matera Police, Italy, with the coordination of the Italian Interforce Office, the Office of Italian Security Experts, in Albania, and the Service for International Police Cooperation - 2nd Division, Rome.
As a result of the coordination of work between Interpol Tirana specialists and their counterparts in Rome, the procedure for the extradition to Albania of citizen Gjovalin Lesi, 56 years old, born in Lezha, was finalized.
In 1998, the Mirdita Court sentenced this citizen to life imprisonment for the criminal offenses of "Premeditated Murder" and "Unauthorized Possession and Production of Weapons, Explosive Weapons and Ammunition".
