Trump: I will meet with Putin in Budapest/ Orban: We are ready

Today, the presidents of the United States and Russia, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, held a phone conversation that lasted over 2 hours. At the end of the call, Trump stated that he and his counterpart agreed to hold a meeting in Budapest, Hungary, to discuss ending the war in Ukraine.

Trump declares that new talks will take place next week between high-level advisers, led on the American side by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

In his post on social media, Donald Trump said that "great progress" had been made during this call, without providing many details.

" President Putin and I will meet later at an agreed-upon location, in Budapest, Hungary, to see if we can end this inglorious war between Russia and Ukraine."

Trump said he would discuss his conversation with Putin when he meets with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office tomorrow.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán reacted through a post on social media:

" The planned meeting between the American and Russian presidents is excellent news for the peace-loving peoples of the world ," Orbán declared.
