Tensions in Jarinje/ Protesters physically clash with police forces

Some Serbian protesters clashed on Sunday with Serbian police forces near the border crossing point between Kosovo and Serbia, Jarinje, - on the side of Serbian territory, as they protested as a sign of support for local Serbs who have erected barricades in northern Kosovo. The protesters broke the police cordon, but the police officials then formed a new cordon closer to the border. The police were seen detaining a person.

"We came here to show that our land is there. We don't want to face our people. We do not accept the Brussels agreement", said a protester.

Kosovo and Serbia have started negotiations for the normalization of relations in 2011. Within this process, which is mediated by the European Union, several agreements have been reached./ Rel
