Angelina Jolie resigns from the position of ambassador to UNHCR

American actress, Angelina Jolie

The American actress, Angelina Jolie, has said that she will resign from her role as ambassador for the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).

"I believe in many things that the UN does, especially in preserving life through the provision of emergency aid," said Jolie, 47 years old.

"I will now work with people-led organizations that are very connected to conflict zones, and give them the most voice."

However, she did not provide details on which organizations she plans to work with. UNHCR has said that Jolie has been one of the most influential people who has fought for the rights of refugees.

The agency has said that the American actress has worked on over 60 missions. In recent months, she has met with people displaced as a result of the war in Ukraine, Yemen and Burkina Faso./ Voa
