Putin meets generals as Russian missiles hit Ukrainian cities

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with military generals on the same day his forces fired another wave of missiles at Ukrainian infrastructure.

Putin spent much of Friday at the headquarters of the "special military operation" discussing ideas about what Russia's next steps should be.

This comes after some Ukrainian military officials claimed that Russia was planning an offensive, possibly as early as next year. Russian attacks on Ukraine's power grid have plunged millions of people into darkness.

Footage from Friday's meeting showed Mr Putin accompanied by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Armed Forces chief Valeriy Gerasimov.

"We will listen to commanders in every operational direction, and I would like to hear your proposals for our immediate and mid-term actions," the Kremlin leader said.

General Gerasimov's presence puts an end to rumors circulating on the Internet that he had been dismissed from his post. The 67-year-old has been the target of intense criticism from commentators, who had burst into accusations against him./ CNA.al
