The Spanish police, according to their data, have destroyed a network of Albanian traffickers, who smuggled migrants illegally in dangerous conditions to Great Britain.

During the joint action of the Spanish Civil Guard (Guardia Civil) and the British National Crime Agency (NCA), seven suspects of "an important criminal organization" were arrested, the Spanish police noted on Saturday (09.10).

Shumica e të arrestuarve, ndër ta edhe dy të pandehurit si drejtues të bandës, sipas të dhënave, janë shtetas shqiptarë. Drejtuesit e bandës u arrestuan të hënën (03.10) në aeroportin e Madridit, kur donin të hipnin në avion për të fluturuar drejt Shqipërisë.

"Trafikantët e qenieve njerëzore venë në rrezik jetën e njeriut, ndaj shkatërrimi i këtyre rrjeteve kriminale si ky ka prioritet", deklaroi drejtuesi rajonal i NCA, Steve Reynolds.

This network of traffickers is believed to have been active since 2014 and was "recruiting" migrants from Albania or from refugee shelters in northern Spain. For each Albanian they transported, they demanded 15,000 euros.

"The methods, how they hid people on board, pose a risk to the lives and physical invulnerability of the migrants, among whom there were also minors," the police declared.

How many migrants this gang has trafficked to Great Britain. It is unclear. So far, 50 eyes have been identified. During the operation, the police seized phones, computers, bank cards, sums of money as well as identification cards and passports./DW
