Meloni calls Zelensky/Support to Ukraine for energy infrastructure

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni held a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The call comes ahead of the Ukrainian president's visits to Brussels, Rome and London in the coming days.

The Italian Prime Minister reiterated her government's support for Ukraine following the recent Russian attacks and informed Zelensky that Italy will send emergency materials to support energy infrastructure and the population.

According to a statement from the government in Rome, generators from Italian companies are expected to be sent to Ukraine in the coming days.

Meloni also reiterated her support for ongoing negotiations and United States initiatives aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace.

The Italian government also notes that Ukraine's willingness to sit at the negotiating table in good faith contributes to the process and expresses the expectation that there will be a similar openness from the Russian side. /CNA
