Labor wins the UK general election, with more than 500 of the 650 parliamentary seats up for grabs.

Keir Starmer will be the new prime minister, who told the media that "change starts now," says Starmer. 

"You've campaigned for it, you've fought for it, you've voted for it and now it's time. Change starts now,” Starmer told Labor staff.

“It feels good, I have to be honest about it. A changed Labor party, ready to serve our country", he further stated.

However, Starmer warned that having "a mandate like this comes with a huge responsibility".

Speaking moments after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak conceded defeat in the general election, Starmer said: “Our job is nothing less than renewing the ideas that hold this country together. National renewal. We must turn politics into public service, show that politics can be a force for good. Make no mistake, this is the great test for politics in this age. The fight for faith is the battle that defines our age.”

There was also a statement from Rishi Sunak, who said that Great Britain has given a "clear decision". 

High-profile Tories have lost their seats, including Defense Secretary Grant Shapps, Jacob Rees-Mogg and Penny Mordaunt./CNA
