Italy elects a new government today in general parliamentary elections.

Voting started at 07:00 this morning and will close at 23:00

51 million Italians have the right to vote today in the general parliamentary elections, of which 4.7 million vote abroad. 51% are women, while 2.6 million adults will vote for the first time in the Senate

President Mattarella and all the main leaders of the political parties, except the contender for prime minister Giorgia Meloni, have gone to the polling stations shaking the vote.

As Meloni of 'Fratelli d'Italia' is expected to vote at 22:00, according to Italian media by 19:00, participation in the election has reached 51.23%, registering a decrease compared to the 2018 elections.

These are the data of the Ministry of the Interior that relate to more than half of the municipalities (in relation to 7751 electoral subjects out of 7904).

As for the comparison with the previous electoral round, in 2018, at the same time, 59.25% of Italians voted for the House of Representatives./CNA.al
