Former US President Donald Trump has pleaded not guilty to federal criminal charges of illegally possessing classified documents after leaving office.

Trump denied all charges in his 37-count indictment before US Magistrate Judge Jonathan Goodman.

Special prosecutor Jack Smith, who announced the federal indictment last week, was present at the hearing and sat in the front row.

He filed 37 charges against Donald Trump, related to secret documents found in the former president's apartment.

This is the second time since April that the former President of the United States of America faces criminal charges.

If found guilty, the former President of the United States of America risks a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison./ CNA.al
