Eva Kaili, the vice-president of the European Parliament

Eva Kaili, the vice-president of the European Parliament has been arrested by the Belgian authorities for corruption.

According to AFP, Greek socialist MEP Eva Kaili has been arrested as part of a corruption investigation related to the World Cup hosts in Qatar. 

After recent developments, the 44-year-old woman has been expelled from PASOK - Movement for Change by decision of the president Nikos Androulakis.

Also, the authorities have carried out checks in the MEP's apartment.

Earlier, the police detained four more people for the corruption scheme.

According to foreign media, Kaili is the partner of one of the four arrested.

Belgium's federal prosecutor said that 600,000 euros in cash were discovered when police raided 16 buildings in Brussels./ BA - CNA.al
