The economy expert, Romina Radonshiqi, has shown in a statement for CNA.al how the increase in prices has affected citizens' pockets.

Radonshiqi said that the increase in prices forced Albanians to reduce their purchasing power because over 50% of their income was spent on consumer goods.

According to her, this has led to an increase in the level of poverty, while she described the Government's packages as insufficient.

“Rritja e çmimeve ka qenë një goditje e madhe e financave të familjeve shqiptare. Shqiptarët u detyruan të ulnin fuqinë blerëse sepse mbi 50 % e të ardhurave të tyre i shpenzonin për mallra konsumi. Shtresat vulnerabël u përballën me varfëri absolute dhe shtresat e mesme janë në prag të varferisë relative. Inflacioni ishte një goditje e madhe dhe për bizneset, pasi ato u përballën me rritje të  kostove të lëndës së parë, mungesës së fuqisë punëtore si shkak i emigracionit, rritjes se çmimit të energjisë elektrike, rritjes së çmimit të karburantit, duke ndikuar në rritje të çmimeve të mallrave dhe shërbimeve.

The increase in the prices of basket products goes beyond the percentage that the government has taken into consideration to design the social packages.
