The government hides the concession report, there has been no control for more

The government has decided to hide the report on the progress of the concessions. For more than a year, the Ministry of Finance has not published the monitoring report of Public Private Partnership contracts. It is about the most problematic and expensive contracts in the history of Albania.

"Syri Tv" found that the last Report on concessions belongs to the year 2021. Since that period, it has been discovered that some of the main contracts signed by the government of Edi Rama are corrupt and abusive. Several investigations of the SPAK Special Prosecutor's Office, although slow, have proven that the three concessionary contracts for waste disposal and processing were associated with the commission of a series of criminal offenses, including corruption, money laundering, falsification of documents and abuse of office. .

Likewise, concession contracts in the Health sector have also been associated with strong suspicions of abuse. So far, SPAK's investigations have revealed serious violations in the concession of Sterilization of surgical equipment.

On the other hand, the Supreme State Audit found significant budgetary problems in the other three concession contracts in the Health sector, all signed when Ilir Beqja was the Minister of Health.

The problems of these concessions, but not only, seem to have forced the Ministry of Finance and the government of Edi Rama not to publish the report on the progress of the concessions for 2022, but also for 2023.

In the last published report, which belongs to the year 2021, the Ministry of Finance admitted that there have been difficulties in monitoring all concession contracts. However, as the Ministry asserted, "we were working continuously and persistently to implement a transparent process of reporting on the progress of the concessions".
