The Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, in the framework of the latest situations with fires in the country, has started from Korça the tour of awareness meetings.

The purpose of these meetings is to raise awareness of local units for early identification and eliminate potential fires to prevent the degradation of situations especially during the summer season.  

Peleshi said that one should not wait until the fire progresses to bring the situation to an emergency.

“Ju kërkoj së pari qytetarisht mirëkuptim dhe bashkëpunim, së dyti ligjërisht. Nuk mund të vazhdojë më kështu që bie një zjarr diku, bashkia bën sikur nuk e shikon, pret sa zjarri të marrë një përmasë të qenësishme dhe pastaj i bie telefonit të marrë helikopterin. Kështu ka ndodhur deri tani. Ne do bëjmë tonën, edhe për rritjen e gatishmërisë së helikopterëve, kemi lajme shumë të mira edhe nga komisioneri i emergjencave civile, të cilit i dhamë aplikimin zyrtar për t’u bërë anëtarë të Mekanizmit Evropian. Kemi marrë sigurinë që do të na përgjigjen, sepse ndonjëherë nuk mjaftojnë as 2 helikopterë, as 5 as flota ndonjëherë kur vatrat e zjarrit janë të shpërndara në të gjithë Shqipërinë siç ishin vitin e kaluar dhe siç parashikojmë të jenë edhe këtë vit”, u shpreh para drejtuesve vendorë ministri i Mbrojtjes, Niko Peleshi.

Peleshi proposed that the work should start with educating the communities to react in such cases, a work that should start from the village elders. He instructed the mayors to set up civil emergency structures so that the municipalities can benefit from the budget funds dedicated by the government./ CNA.al
