Fire situation in 24 hours/ Ministry of Defense: 22 fires reported, 11 still

During the last 24 hours, 22 fire outbreaks have been reported, of which 11 are still active and 1 is under monitoring. The outbreaks have been identified in the municipalities of: Dibër, Mat, Vlorë, Elbasan, Kurbin, Lezhë, Devoll, Korçë, Pustec, Pogradec, Gjirokastër, Përmet, Fier, Berat, Tirana, Dimal, Malësi e madhe and Kukës.

Currently, these fire sources remain active: .
- In the place called "Lake of Flowers", part of the Lura National Park, Dibër municipality, the fire continues to develop in three sources, but with low intensity during the night. The sources are active over the village of Gurë Lura, around Liqeni i Zi and in Fu?a e Pelave.
- In the village of Ulëz, Mat municipality, the situation is very difficult as the fire is developing towards the forests. Due to the terrain and size of the fire, the operational forces have not been able to bring it under control.
- In the village of Zall Gjoçaj, Derjan administrative unit, Mat municipality, work has continued to extinguish the fire that broke out in the place called "Përroi i Zi", a forest area with pine and yew trees. The rocky and very rugged terrain makes it difficult to intervene with firefighting vehicles. Yesterday, 40 municipal forces and 30 personnel from the FA, 1 Canadair aircraft from the Italian state were deployed in the field.
- In the place called "Maja e Pliska", above the village of Dukat, Vlora municipality, the fire is very intense in the area of bushes, pastures and pine forests. The flames, aided by the wind, also included the pine crowns, making the situation problematic. Today, the operation continues with 32 operational forces assisted by 80 military forces, 2 helicopters of the Armed Forces.

- In the Lezha Region, work has continued to extinguish the fire that broke out in a forest area with pine and oak trees, near the Shkopet tunnel, on the Shkopet-Burrel road. The fire has been prevented from spreading to homes.

- In the village of Vernik, Devoll municipality, work continues to extinguish the fire that broke out in an area of bushes.
- In the village of Dishnicë, Korçë municipality, work continues to extinguish the fire that broke out in an area of bushes and thorns. The fire continues to spread in a northeasterly direction towards ?ardhak, helped by the wind and diverse vegetation.
- In the village of Pustec, the Pustec municipality has extinguished the fire that broke out in the waste dump and today work continues to isolate and finally extinguish it.

- In the village of Kosina, Përmet municipality, work has continued to extinguish the fire that broke out in an area of bushes and forest. Most of the firefighting forces are concentrated in the village of Kutal, as it is still active. There is no danger to homes.

- On Mount Suka, in the village of Mamez, in the municipality of Kukes, a fire that broke out in a bush area has grown in size and is endangering the homes of the village of Mamez. The operation continues today with operational forces and 100 military forces to extinguish the fire.

Monitoring:
In the place called “Livadhi i Peladhisë”, Zerqan administrative unit, Bulqizë municipality, the reactivated fire has passed to the village of Strikçan, Zerqan administrative unit, and is being monitored by the Local Fire Service of Bulqizë municipality with 1 firefighting vehicle and 8 personnel and 8 municipal forces.
As a result of the fires that broke out, about 17 hectares have been burned, mainly in areas with vegetation and forests.
Forces engaged: 36 firefighting vehicles and 635 operational forces were engaged in the fire extinguishing operations. Also, 190 forces from the FA with 19 vehicles and 2 Helicopters, 2 Canadair aircraft from the Greek state and 1 from the Italian state participated in yesterday's operations. During today's operations, 345 military forces, 2 helicopters and 1 firefighting vehicle with the relevant personnel are in operations.
Weather conditions and fire risk: According to information from the Institute of Geosciences (IGJEO), at the National Civil Emergency Operations Center (QKOEC), no precipitation is expected today throughout the territory.
For forest fires, a “HIGH” risk level is expected today in all regions, while a “MODERATE” risk level is expected in the regions of Durrës and Shkodër. “HIGH” risk is also expected in localized areas of the Shkodër region (South) and the Durrës region (South East).
Civil protection structures continue to be continuously engaged in the management and extinguishing of fires throughout the territory. We call on citizens to show increased caution and immediately report any suspicious fire to the relevant authorities.
