Rainfall situation in Korça/Filo: Minimal damage, preliminary field work

Mayor of Korça, Sotiraq Filo, shared this Saturday details of the bad weather situation in the country, which affected almost all municipalities in the country.

Through a post on social media, Filo emphasizes that the damage in this municipality from the rainfall has been minimal, compared to the real danger posed by the situation.

Filo adds that the way the situation was managed is related to the preliminary work on the ground, where in just four days, almost half of the annual average rainfall fell in Korça.

"During the last week, Korça faced an extraordinary atmospheric situation: In just 4 days, about 370 mm of rain fell (Tuesday 38 mm, Wednesday 159 mm, Thursday 85.6 mm, Friday 85.8 mm) according to measurements by the Military Meteorological Service, i.e. approximately 50% of the annual average rainfall in our region.

Despite this extreme amount in such a short time, the damage to the territory has been minimal compared to the real danger this situation posed.

This achievement is directly related to the periodic work throughout the year to clean and maintain the drainage network, as well as the rapid response on critical days. Without this work done in advance and on the ground, this situation would have caused extraordinary damage to the city and our administrative units.
