Conclusion of the vetting process/ Peleshi: Justice Reform was a confrontation

The Speaker of the Parliament, Niko Peleshi, delivered his speech at the closing ceremony of the vetting process. In his speech, Peleshi said that the vetting was a chapter of bold and profound interventions.

The Speaker of Parliament expressed that the justice reform was an act of self-correction and a confrontation with citizens' distrust in justice. Further, in his speech, Peleshi said that the current Albania after the completion of this process is not the same as that of 2016.

Peleshi stated that despite the completion of the justice reform, the obligation to prevent the standards achieved in justice from being called into question is not over.

 

" Today, a chapter of bold and profound interventions closes. The Justice Reform was an act of self-correction, it was the decision to confront citizens' distrust of justice."

There can be no European future without the conditional rule of law. The Albania of 2016 is not the Albania of 2016. The trust and expectations of Albanian citizens are different, this is the clearest proof that change has occurred.

Today is the day to express respect to all those who committed themselves to this marathon. This is the true legacy of any reform. At the end of this mandate, the question is whether we will be able to maintain what we have achieved.

"We are truly closing an important journey, but our obligation to defend and not allow the standards we have achieved to be questioned does not end. There is no more precious gift for future generations than building strong institutions ," said Peleshi.
