Journalist Norel Zaimi told Euronews Albania that security is maximum at the Poliçan plant, as inside it there is still a large arsenal of cartridges left over from the time of their dismantling.
He showed that the residents of Poliçan have had their lives connected to the factory where the vast majority of them were employed, but the consequences for a large part have been severe.
The toxic substances that were used in a certain sector of this plant have been the cause of a series of genetically transmissible diseases that have claimed the lives of a very large number of former employees of this plant.
"One of the concerns that I have raised in the media are genetically transmitted diseases or the fog that often arose in the city of Poliçan related to the toxic substance that was used. 60-70 percent of the employees who worked with lead smelting in area C, where initial materials such as cyanide and mercury were used, have today filled the cemetery. Many of them are no longer alive as they used to have a special treatment, once a month they went to a military hospital", said the journalist./Euronews
