The Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations, on a three-day visit to

Ivana ?ivkovi?, Assistant-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Assistant-Administrator and UNDP Regional Director for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States, will pay an official visit to Albania from 9 to 12 September 2024.

During her visit, Mrs. ?ivkovi? will meet with the Prime Minister of Albania, cabinet ministers, international development partners and local UNDP partners.

One of the main moments of Mrs. ?ivkovi? will be the inauguration of the 9-year-old school "Gjergj Kastrioti" in Lezhë, together with the Minister of Education and Sports and the EU Ambassador in Albania.

The school, which benefits 631 students and 38 teachers, is one of the 63 educational institutions reconstructed or repaired within the "EU4Schools" Program, financed by the European Union and implemented by UNDP in Albania.

The "EU4Schools" program, guided by the principles #BuildBetter and #BuildTogether, aims to repair/rebuild educational institutions damaged by the 2019 earthquake in Albania.

Ms. ?ivkovi? will visit the "Empower the Community" Center in Lezhë, part of the "Empower the Community" project, which is funded by USAID Albania and implemented by UNDP.

The project includes the establishment of three "Empower the Community" centers in Durrës, Kurbin and Lezhë. The centers offer integrated social services for groups in need in these three municipalities./ CNA
