Minister Malaj: IPARD III Program will open in 2026

The Minister of Economy, Petrit Malaj, stated at today's meeting of the Economy Committee that the IPARD III program will open in 2026.

During his speech at the Commission, Malaj stated that the Albanian government is working to fulfill the measures requested by the European Commission, due to some irregularities identified in the second phase of the IPARD program. He further added that the government has placed 30 million euros in sovereign guarantees for the agricultural sector.

"IPARD has had positive results in both the first and second phases. Due to some irregularities identified in the second phase, the European Commission, through DG AGRI, requested the Albanian government to implement some measures. These measures are in the process of being implemented and I am very optimistic that IPARD III will be launched in 2026. A sovereign guarantee of 30 million euros has been established for the agricultural sector, which enables farmers and small businesses to benefit from state-guaranteed loans of up to 70% of the value, with an interest rate of only 2%. In parallel, a credit line of 250 million euros has been created, with concessional interest rates, made available by the Bank of Albania, to promote the development of the agro-processing sector, which will be one of the government's priorities in the coming years ," the minister said. /CNA
