False complaints against 'Lajthiza Water'/Albanian Producers'

The Albanian Producers' Union has reacted today after "citizen complaints" against the product "Lajthiza Water" have been published on several portals and online media for several days.

The “denunciation” refers to an unidentified citizen at a resort in southern Albania, also unidentified. According to this “denunciation”, the water had a high salt content. This finding was also reinforced by a waiter, also unidentified. It was clear that it was a set-up to damage the image of the company, which has been marketing one of the highest quality water products for 25 years.

In a statement, the Albanian Producers' Union states that it is very attentive to respecting food safety standards and will take a stand in cases where competent bodies ascertain violations and infringements of food safety standards. However, with the same accountability and responsibility, the BPSH demands that institutions take a stand when various producers fall prey to blackmail or denigrating attacks, for certain purposes.

This is not the first time that Albanian producers, mainly in the food industry, have fallen prey to public attacks without any verifiable basis. These deliberate attacks seriously undermine the relationship and trust between producer and consumer.

BPSH encourages every citizen, if they notice problems with food products, to contact the relevant institutions.

BPSH also encourages institutions to take positions in defense of consumers, but at the same time encourages them to react in cases where facts are fabricated to attack various manufacturer brands. /CNA
