The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, has reacted regarding the arrest and the appointment of the 'prison arrest' measure for Dritan Metaj, acting chief of the Laç Police Station.

Balla says that with the arrest of Dritan Metaj, the process of self-purification of the State Police continues.

According to him, the strengthening of cooperation between law-enforcement agencies and the common fight for the cleansing of crime centers in front of and within the organization of the State Police itself, will take Albania to another level of the rule of law.

"The process of self-cleaning of the State Police continues intensively. The State Police in cooperation with SPAK have arrested this afternoon the Chief of Police Kurbin, who is suspected of cooperation with the leaders of a criminal group, against whom arrest warrants have also been issued. Strengthening the cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the common fight to clean up the hotbeds of crime in front of and within the organization of the State Police itself, will take Albania to another level of the rule of law," said Balla./ CNA
