Sela embankment crack/ The situation in the Vaini lagoon remains problematic

The situation created by the breach in the Sela embankment, in the Vaini Lagoon in the Tale area of ??Lezha, continues to be problematic.

There is also water in some homes, while many others are surrounded. The Mayor of Lezha, Pjerin Ndreu, said that the operation is continuing without interruption and the goal is to close the embankment, in order to prevent the water from spreading further into residential areas.

Ndreu also ironized the DP deputies, saying that they drink wine and eat fish and then remember the flood victims.

 

"We have reassessed the situation, taking into account first the protection of people's lives. We have our own means but also the army's to intervene in any possible evacuation case. I think we have put the system into operation, it was certainly a difficult situation because the embankment has been breached about 40 meters. We have reports of 2-3 flooded apartments in which we have intervened ," said Ndreu.

 

Local authorities emphasize that the situation remains under constant monitoring, while teams on the ground are working intensively until the situation is fully stabilized.

It is expected that interventions in the coming hours will bring gradual improvement, while residents are urged to exercise caution and follow the instructions of civil emergency structures./CNA
