iOS 26 introduces 8 new special emojis

Ballerinas, bigfoot hunters, and trombonists. The Unicode Consortium has announced the newest set of emojis to be released, reduced from submissions late last year. Without further ado, here's the list:

-Apple Core

-Ballerina

-Distorted Face

-New Combat

-Bigfoot Creature

-Orca

-Treasury

-Trombone

The new emoji will be part of the Unicode 17.0 release, which is scheduled for this fall. However, they won't be available when iOS 26 arrives in September.

Since Apple adopts its own style for new emoji, this set will likely be available in a later iOS 26 update, perhaps in early 2026. The last set announced in 2024 was released as part of iOS 18.4 in March.

Apple made its own emoji announcement with the launch of the new Emoji Game on its Apple News+ service. The objective of the Emoji Game is to complete phrases with words by interpreting a set of emojis./CNA
