OFFICIAL/ Gasperini leaves Atalanta, new team revealed

Gian Piero Gasperini leaves Atalanta after nine years, to start a new adventure on the Roma bench.

The Italian coach announced his decision in a letter published in local newspaper "L'Eco di Bergamo", stressing that it was a personal choice and not a club decision. He explained that the decision was only made in the last hours and that his intention was to leave the team on a high note.

Atalanta finished the season in third place and qualified for the Champions League. Gasperini stressed that the relationship with the city remains unchanged and that it is not a question of farewell.

He admitted that he needed new incentives and that the challenge with Roma attracts him a lot. The coach praised his work with Atalanta as a successful cycle, full of great results such as winning the Europa League and numerous participations in Europe. Gasperini promised that he will remain linked to the city of Bergamo in the future.
