Messi could return to Europe, loan is targeted before the World Cup

Lionel Messi is considering a loan move to a team outside the US next season to stay in top form ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

The Argentine striker has been with Inter Miami for two seasons, and his contract expires at the end of this year. According to what is reported by ESPN Argentina, the American club wants to renew the agreement, but does not rule out a temporary loan in a more competitive league.

A return to Barcelona or PSG is unlikely at the moment. Meanwhile, Manchester City have shown a concrete interest in the player. A loan move is seen as the most realistic way for Messi to maintain the pace needed to lead Argentina to the next World Cup.

A decision is expected to be made in the coming weeks, while the player is analyzing all possible alternatives. For now, everything remains open.
