The trade of fruits and vegetables in the open air, beyond any hygienic-sanitary conditions and at temperatures exceeding 35 degrees per day, has become a disturbing phenomenon.
Citizens say that with rising prices, the chances of buying these foods in the supermarket are slim. So they are forced to go to the merchant who sells them cheaper.
"Fruits and vegetables, to be honest, I buy very little, because of the heat, but also expensive, and very rarely salads", says a citizen.
"I bought them all because they will all be eaten. "All day in the sun, they try to be desolate, but the conditions are not who knows what, they should be better, but we live in Albania", says another.
Nutritionists say that consuming these products is harmful to health. Therefore, they call on citizens to be careful in their purchases.
"There is a high risk of salmonella. We should consume seasonal vegetables and fruits. "Citizens need to be careful," said Entela Cenko, a nutritionist.
AKU for May has conducted 2871 inspections nationwide, only in licensed markets. Therefore, they call on citizens to be careful with street vendors./euronews
