IGJEUM warns: Frosty days, low temperatures in the country

The Geoscience Institute has shared a forecast for the meteorological situation this afternoon, Thursday (January 1), and tomorrow, Friday (January 2).

According to the forecast, low temperatures may cause frost, especially in mountainous and hilly areas, creating difficulties in road transport.

Rainfall forecast:

No significant rainfall is expected this afternoon. Tomorrow, moderate to locally intense rainfall is expected, accompanied by thunderstorms, in the Shkodër and Kukës regions. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in the Dibër, Lezhë, Elbasan, Vlorë and Gjirokastër regions, while in the other regions rainfall will be light.

Heavy snowfall is expected in the Alpine areas, while in the North, East and Southeast, at altitudes above 600 meters above sea level, light snowfall is forecast.

Temperatures:

Tomorrow's minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to be:

On the coast: 2 / 13 °C

In lowlands: 0 / 13 °C

In mountainous areas: -5 / 5 °C

Wind:

This afternoon the wind will blow light to moderate, while tomorrow it is expected to blow medium to strong on the coast. /CNA
