Research shows that even a short amount of walking, one of the most accessible forms of exercise, can help you succeed when working toward other fitness goals.
Even just five minutes of walking a day can bring several health benefits, according to Dr. Andrew Freeman, director of cardiovascular prevention and wellness at National Health in Denver.
The key is to make walking a regular part of your day, which is why Freeman suggests people engage in any form of exercise, even if it involves a five-minute walk in your routine.
Psychologically, smaller tasks are easier to achieve, so pushing yourself to take a five-minute daily walk is easier than trying to complete a 35-minute walk.
