The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, is participating in the 76th Assembly of the World Health Organization, where, together with policy makers, experts and representatives of health institutions, the challenges of health systems, the impact of the pandemic on the health of population and the need to join forces and strengthen capacities, to guarantee preparation and rapid response to health emergencies.

On behalf of the Health Network of the countries of South-Eastern Europe, where Albania is one of the nine countries, and in the capacity of holding the Presidency for the year 2023 of this mechanism, Minister Manastirliu, in her speech, spoke about the joint efforts of the countries of SEEHN for promoting progress in health systems and improving pharmaceutical services and the importance of joint initiatives for achieving the objectives related to the 2030 Agenda for the health and well-being of the population.

"I have the honor to speak on behalf of the nine member states of the Southeast European Health Network that have joined this declaration: Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, the State of Israel, the Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, the Republic of North Macedonia, Romania and the Republic of Serbia. The Ministers of Health of the SEEHN countries have expressed their steadfast and strategic commitment to this Network, to have health as a priority in the political agenda.

We strongly believe that a regional strategic document is complementary and serves to narrow the differences in the framework of efforts to implement the WHO's global and regional agenda, to achieve the objectives of sustainable development as well as to accelerate progress in closing the gap related to with the health results in the region within the EU", said Manastirliu.

Within the Presidency of the South Eastern Europe Health Network, the 46th Plenary Meeting of SEEHN will be organized in Tirana, on June 5-6, which will focus on cross-sectoral cooperation and improving vaccine uptake.

The 76th Assembly of the World Health Organization is being held in Geneva, with the participation of the Director General of the WHO, Dr. Tedros Adhanom, Director of the WHO for Europe, Dr. Hans Kluge, to ministers and senior health leaders of over 100 WHO member states. The theme of the WHO Health Assembly for this year is: "Saving lives, towards guaranteeing health for all!"/ CNA.al
