Korça Short Film Festival, 45 films from 22 different countries of the world

The 11th edition of the Korça Short Film Festival started this Tuesday, with a special program at its opening ceremony. This festival, already a tradition for the city of Korça, brings to the public 5 days of organization, where 45 short films from 22 different countries of the world will be shown. On the first day of the festival, two short films were shown with the special program "Films from Palestine", where the Palestinian directors have made them so beautifully, while these films were produced as co-financing between France, Belgium, Poland and Palestine.

The films are divided into four categories, the first category is that of national films, continuing with the category of international, student and documentary films. Meanwhile, on September 21, at 11:00, at the "Majestik" cinema, the program for children will be shown, which consists of 8 short films that are suitable for ages 7-11.

Gladis Bica, the executive director of the festival, shows details about this year's program, saying that the film dedicated to the situation in Palestine, which also opened the festival, comes as a reflection on the countries that are in a situation of war today.

"This year, 45 films from 22 countries of the world will be shown. Among them there are also 5 Albanian films, by filmmakers from Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia. The films belong to four categories: international, national, student and documentary, as and films for children. The festival will last five nights and is dedicated to the situation in Palestine. This film comes as a reflection on the countries that are in a situation of war. The films are produced by Palestinian directors and are created in collaboration with artists from Poland and Belgium", stated Gladis Bica.

In this edition, the novelty is the free theme, where unlike other years, this year the festival has no restrictions. Some of the topics selected by the directors are dedicated to immigration, population displacement, poverty and social problems.

"As for the theme, the festival has no restrictions, but this edition we have films that deal with emigration, population displacements due to war, poverty and social problems. Short films are usually only shown at festivals and present a mix between well-known filmmakers and young artists. Even well-known directors often experiment with the short film", he said

For the member of the jurists, Anxela ?ikopana, this edition will be quite special. What the jury singles out as an interesting stream is precisely the film about Palestine, while the public has the opportunity to understand the essence of history more quickly through short films.

"Each edition brings new films. In this edition, I would single out as an interesting contribution the film about Palestine, which deals with an issue that comes to us through film. Although the public is not very familiar with the short film genre, from these films the essence of the story can be understood more quickly, they have rhythm and do not tire you", said Anxela ?ikopana.

KO:SH Festival will continue for four more days in Korça, with a very special program and very beautiful productions by Albanian and foreign directors. The Korça audience will watch 45 short films, with a variety of themes, while children will also have a day dedicated to the age of 7-11, with the opportunity to watch 8 films.
