The first Albanian film operator, Sonja Mamaqi celebrates her 76th birthday

Sonja Mamaqi, the first Albanian film operator, celebrates her birthday today.

Sonja's passion for film began at the age of 16. Together with her colleague Diana Diamanti, they were the first and only women in the difficult profession of camera operators.

The first chronicles are from 1969 with filming from Shkodra to Lezhë and Berat, in factories and stadiums, parades, congresses, etc.

She worked with passion and responsibility, shooting hundreds of film materials in documentary films, feature films and documentaries.

Sonja lived a difficult life after being exiled for political reasons. Due to the beating of her father Dashnor Mamaqi, Sonja stopped it in 1974.

After a 16-year break, she returned to Kinostudio in March 1991.

This time she passionately returned to the Albanian animated film.
