Cannes Film Festival/ Iranian dissident director's film wins Palme d'Or

The Cannes Film Festival has its last night today.

The Palme d'Or was won by the thriller film "It Was Just an Accident" by Iranian director Jafar Panahi, who was unable to leave Iran for 15 years.

The award was presented to the director by actress Cate Blanchett.

In his speech, the director called on his compatriots to fight for the country's freedom.

" It's time to ask all Iranians around the world: let's put aside the problems, the differences, the most important thing is the freedom of our country."
