Officer injured by gunfire in Tirana

A police officer was injured overnight in the Shkoza area.

In a statement, the police announced that 30-year-old AK officer was injured off-duty, with a firearm.

The officer was transported to the hospital and is out of danger while investigations into the incident continue.

Tirana/Preliminary information

On 18.05.2026, at around 00:10, in the Shkoza area, under still unclear circumstances, citizen AK, around 30 years old, an off-duty police officer, was injured, suspected of being shot with a firearm.

The 30-year-old was transported to the hospital and is out of danger.

Immediately after receiving the notification, the Police services set up checkpoints and are continuing intensive checks in the area, with the aim of capturing the perpetrator(s).

The investigative group and the Police Supervision Agency (AMP), under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, are at the scene and are working to fully clarify the circumstances, identify the perpetrator(s) and legally document the event.
