Smuggling oil from Macedonia/ 3 arrested in Korça

3 people are arrested in Korça, after they smuggled 600 liters of oil from North Macedonia, which they had hidden in additional tanks in the trucks they were driving.

Police Notification:

As a result of the investigative actions carried out based on police intelligence, 3 cases of smuggling of goods for which excise duty is paid were discovered.

3 citizens who tried to smuggle 600 liters of oil from North Macedonia, which they had hidden in additional tanks in the trucks they were driving, were arrested in the act.

1800 liters of diesel and 3 trucks were seized.

Specialists of the Section for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes, following the work to prevent, identify and attack criminal activity in the field of goods smuggling, based on the information provided by police intelligence, have hit three cases of criminal activity in this field .

Following the procedural actions, the following citizens were arrested in the act: DG, 36 years old, EP, 40 years old and GL, 27 years old, all three residents of Pogradec, for the criminal offenses "Trading and transporting contraband goods", "Keeping or deposit of contraband goods" and "Smuggling of goods for which excise duty is paid or with full or partial suspension from customs or excise duties".

At the entrance of PKK Qafë Thane, during the control in each of the trucks driven by these citizens, the Police services found an additional deposit of 600 liters of diesel, which was hidden with the intention of bringing it into Albania, avoiding tax obligations.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of Korça General Jurisdiction, for further actions./ CNA
