The burst of the Bunec HPP dam / The administrator is under investigation
Hydropower plant in Bunec, Lukovë

Following the dam burst yesterday afternoon, the police announced today that they have initiated criminal proceedings against citizen VN, 68, administrator at the Bunec Hydropower Plant in Lukovë.

He is accused of the criminal offense of "Destruction of Property" and the materials have been forwarded to the Prosecution for processing.

Police announcement:


"The Crime Investigation Specialists of the Himara Police Commissariat referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, where the proceedings for the criminal offense of "Destruction of Property" were initiated against citizen Vangjel Ngjelo, 68 years old, resident of Gjirokastër, after yesterday, at around 12:30, the dam at the hydroelectric power plant where he is an administrator, broke, and as a result the national road "Himarë-Saranda" was blocked and several houses in the place called "Bunec" were flooded.

The procedural materials were passed to the prosecutor's office for further action," the Police announcement states.
We recall that yesterday at noon the dam of the hydroelectric power plant in Bunec, Lukovë in Himara broke, and as a result, a lot of material damage was recorded to properties and businesses. /CNA
