Trump confirms he will have a phone conversation with President Putin

President Trump will speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Washington time, the US president announced on social media.

Trump shared on Social Truth that the two leaders would speak this Thursday. It was not immediately clear what the focus of the call would be, but Trump and Putin have spoken several times in recent weeks amid the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Thursday's call will take place amid uproar over the Pentagon's decision to halt the delivery of some air defense missiles and munitions to Ukraine, citing concerns about depleting US military reserves.

Earlier this week, the White House confirmed that the United States is halting some arms shipments to Ukraine. The White House said the decision was made after a Pentagon review of U.S. military support and assistance to other countries. The pause was put in place because of concerns that U.S. military stockpiles were running too low, a U.S. official said.
