Trump makes announcement: Monday at emergency Washington security briefing

US President Donald Trump announced that a press conference will be held at the White House on Monday to discuss crime in Washington.

Through an announcement, the White House has also shared part of the preliminary message from President Trump.

“There will be a press conference at the White House on Monday that will, essentially, stop violent crime in Washington, D.C. It has become one of the most dangerous cities anywhere in the world. Soon it will be one of the safest.” - President Donald J. Trump

Trump said on August 6 that he may use the National Guard to patrol the streets of Washington, the latest plan by the administration to take control of the city that serves as the seat of the US government. /CNA
