A number of British supermarkets, such as Tesco, Aldi, Asda and Morrisons, have placed restrictions on the purchase of some fruit and vegetables. What is the cause?

A number of British supermarkets have announced that they have placed restrictions on the purchase of some fruit and vegetables.

Supermarkets cited problems with supplies from southern Europe and northern Africa as the reason for rationing fruit and vegetables.

Rationing of the purchase quantity per customer has been made mainly for tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. But some supermarket chains have also rationed purchases of lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower and raspberries.

Brexit or bad weather?
