The membership of Finland and Sweden in NATO/Hungary does not give the "green light"  

The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, stated that there may be delays for the approval from Budapest for the membership of Finland and Sweden in NATO.

Reuters reports that the Hungarian Prime Minister expressed concern and accused both countries of spreading lies about democracy and the rule of law in Hungary.

He also said more talks were needed between parliamentary groups before lawmakers could vote on the membership bids.

According to a parliamentary calendar, the final vote on the membership applications of Finland and Sweden could take place on March 6.

Sweden and Finland applied last year to join the transatlantic alliance after Russia began aggression against Ukraine. But in order to become a member, it must be ratified by the 30 members of NATO and Sweden has faced opposition from Turkey because of the shelter of those who Ankara says are members of terrorist groups./ CNA.al
