Seven killed, including a child, in new Russian attacks in Sumi

Seven people, including a child, have been killed in an overnight Russian drone strike in Ukraine's northeastern Sumi region, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday.

"Each new Russian attack only confirms [Russian President Vladimir] Putin's real intention." He wants the war to continue, because he is not interested in peace," said Zelensky.

Twelve people, including two children, were injured in an overnight drone attack on a residential building in the small town of Hluhiv, which borders Russia, the military administration of the Sumy region said.

A video shared by Zelensky shows emergency crews searching for survivors in the rubble of the partially destroyed building.

The military administration said Russian forces used two drones in the attack.

Ukraine's Air Force said it shot down 51 drones and lost track of 30 drones after Russia attacked it with 87 drones overnight.

Russian forces have repeatedly attacked the northeastern Sumy region in recent months, damaging its vital civilian infrastructure.

A rocket attack in Sumi on Sunday killed 11 people and injured 89 others, leaving the city of Sumi without electricity./REL
