Defense Secretary Hegseth: US attack on drug ships in Colombia, 14 dead

At least 14 people were killed during recent US military strikes against four suspected drug ships in the Eastern Pacific.

The announcement of the action was made this Tuesday by Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth in a post shared on his 'X' account.

“At the direction of President Trump, the Department of War conducted three lethal kinetic strikes on four vessels operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations (DTOs) trafficking narcotics in the Eastern Pacific. The four vessels were known to our intelligence community to be transiting known drug trafficking routes and transporting narcotics. Eight male narco-terrorists were aboard the vessels during the first attack. Four male narco-terrorists were aboard the vessel during the second attack. Three male narco-terrorists were aboard the vessel during the third attack. A total of 14 narco-terrorists were killed during the three attacks, with one survivor. All attacks were in international waters with no U.S. personnel harmed. Regarding the survivor, USSOUTHCOM immediately initiated standard Search and Rescue (SAR) protocols; Mexican SAR authorities accepted the case and assumed responsibility for coordinating the rescue. The Department has spent over TWO DECADES protecting "Their homeland. Now, we are defending our homeland. These narco-terrorists have killed more Americans than Al-Qaeda, and they will be treated the same. We will track them down, we will network them, and then we will track them down and kill them," Hegseth announced./CNA
