Hearing for Abazovi?, the cause of the vote for Kosovo

The Committee for International Relations of the Parliament of Montenegro has set for May 3 the hearing of the Prime Minister in the technical mandate, Dritan Abazovic, regarding the support of Kosovo for membership in the Council of Europe.

The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe supported sending the request for a vote to its Parliamentary Assembly on April 24, for which the representative of Montenegro also voted. Of the 46 countries of the Council of Europe, 33 voted for.

The hearing of Abazovic, who also holds the office of Minister of Foreign Affairs, was supported by the deputies of the pro-Russian Democratic Front (DF), those of the pro-Serbian Socialist People's Party (SNP) and the Democrats, at the suggestion of the chairman of Commission, Miodrag Leki?.

"To explain to us the method by which it was decided to support Kosovo as a member of the Council of Europe. This issue is controversial. The decision was made very easily when important negotiations are taking place between Belgrade and Pristina", said Lekiq . at the Commission meeting.

He claims that the opening of this case "does not represent an anti-Albanian policy".

The Democratic Front announced earlier that the decision to accept Kosovo's request for membership in the Council of Europe presents an opportunity to start collecting signatures in churches and monasteries of the Serbian Orthodox Church for the withdrawal of Montenegro's decision to recognize Kosovo.

During his last visit to Kosovo, Abazovic emphasized that Montenegro will support the integration of Kosovo in all international and regional organizations.

Podgorica officially recognized Kosovo as an independent state in 2008, during the government of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) of Milo Djukanovic, who was replaced in August 2020 after three decades in power./REL
