Russia declares West an 'existential threat'

Russia adopted a new foreign policy strategy in which the West is declared an "existential threat". The new strategy was made necessary by the "current upheavals in the international arena", declared President Vladimir Putin. His foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, said this is Moscow's response to the "existential nature of threats to the security and development of our country from the actions of unfriendly states".

20 countries as "unfriendly"

Në fokus të strategjisë së re të politikës së jashtme ruse të shpallur nga Putin është "eliminimi i dominimit" të Perëndimit në politikën botërore. "Federata Ruse synon t'i japë përparësi eliminimit (...) të dominimit të Shteteve të Bashkuara të Amerikës dhe vendeve të tjera jomiqësore në politikën botërore," thuhet në dokumentin prej 42 faqesh.

Moska ka klasifikuar rreth 20 shtete si "jomiqësore". Ndër to janë SHBA-ja, Gjermania, Britania e Madhe dhe Polonia,  të cilat kanë vendosur sanksione të forta ndaj Moskës për shkak të luftës agresore të Rusisë kundër Ukrainës.

Kina dhe India aleatë të rëndësishëm

On the other hand, China and India are declared important allies of Russia on the world stage. And the strategy emphasizes the importance of "deeper relations and coordination with sovereign and friendly centers of power and development globally and on the Eurasian continent." The doctrine also envisages the expansion of relations with Africa and Latin America.

At the same time, Putin's ally, the Belarusian ruler Alexander Lukashenko, declared his readiness for the stationing of strategic nuclear weapons in Belarus./ DW
