Norway's Data Protection Authority has ordered US tech firm Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, to stop serving personalized ads to users in Norway based on their online activities and locations.
This decision was sent to "Meta" on July 14 and will come into effect on August 4 and will be valid for three months.
Facebook and Instagram will still be able to show users personalized ads, but only based on information they reveal about themselves.
Meta is also currently under scrutiny by the main European privacy regulator, the Irish Data Protection Commission, for its advertising practices.
