The new government of North Macedonia was approved on Sunday evening with 77 votes in favor, 22 against and no abstentions. The parties of the European Front led by the Democratic Union for Integration left the parliament session before the government cabinet was voted on.
The new Prime Minister, Hristijan Mickovski, and members of the cabinet took the oath with the country's constitutional name, which is 'North Macedonia', while Mr. Mickovki said during the speech before the vote that he was obliged to respect this constitutional reference, while calling it "shameful ” for the people of this country.
"I will do whatever I can as long as I am alive to fix this injustice. But unfortunately at the moment I am powerless and I have to capitulate as a man and say it in front of you" , he said.
The government of North Macedonia will have 24 members, including the prime minister; five will be deputy prime ministers and only three women will be ministers.
Mr. Mickovski said that his government would dedicate itself to the citizens; that a lot of work, responsibility and concrete projects are needed. "In the first 100 days we will raise the standards, we will work hard; we will reduce taxes, we will increase pensions", repeated the promise of the election campaign, the new head of the executive power in Skopje.
He announced the receipt of a loan of one billion euros for the country's economy, while from Tuesday there will be foreign investments at a height of 400 million euros.
Mr. Mickovski emphasized the commitments for a front against corruption. However, he did not say a word about the EU's conditions for constitutional changes, namely the introduction of the Bulgarian minority in the Constitution. Without these changes, Skopje will not be able to progress towards the European Union.
The second day of the debate in the parliament regarding the government program and the names of the ministerial candidates was spent with clashes between the lawmakers of the VMRO-DPMNE and the Social Democratic League, which promises to be a constructive opposition.
The deputies of the opposing Albanian coalitions, the European Front and Vlen, exchanged mutual accusations, mainly about who has and who does not have the legitimacy to represent Albanians in the executive power.
Another controversial issue between the Albanian parties in the parliament was the candidacy of Ivan Stoilkovi? for the minister of relations between ethnic communities, a politician of the Serbian minority with pro-Russian positions and suspected by a part of the press of connections with the Serbian and Russian secret services.
VMRO will lead 15 ministries; the coalition Vlen 6 and the party Znam 2 ministers. The representatives of the Vlen coalition in the government are: Izet Mejhiti, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Living Environment and Spatial Planning, Arben Taravari, Minister of Health, Besar Durmishi of Economy and Labor, Orhan Murtezani, Minister of European Integration, Fatmir Limani, Minister of Youth and Demography and Arben Fetai, Minister of Governance and Good Policies./ VOA
