Serbian Interior Minister: We know who killed Oliver Ivanovic

Serbian Interior Minister Bratislav Gashi? said on June 21 that Serbian authorities "know exactly" who killed Oliver Ivanovic, the Serbian politician from northern Kosovo.

"We know exactly who the killer is," Gashi? said, during a speech at a session of the Serbian Parliament, which was called by the opposition, which is demanding his dismissal, Beta agency reports.

He said that the Serbian police have asked the German authorities for this person "under whose protection he is".

"We have a video from the Tirana airport, we have photographs from Pristina, we have photographs showing him entering an apartment in Pristina", said Gashiç, without providing details or other evidence to support these claims.

He said that this case "has been solved by professionals", but they have not received satellite images of the scene where the murder was committed. According to the Serbian minister, these images were requested by the international partners, but the latter reasoned that on the day of the murder "it was a foggy day".

Oliver Ivanovic was killed on January 16, 2018, with six bullets in his back. The murder was committed in front of his party's office in North Mitrovica, a municipality inhabited by a majority of Serbs in the north of Kosovo.

Over five years after this murder, the case is still unsolved.

The Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo has so far filed three indictments, but there have been no substantial changes in them, i.e. only the persons who "knowingly and intentionally helped the criminal group to commit the criminal offense of the murder of Oliver Ivanovi?" are mentioned, but not the author of the murder or the orderer.

Indictments have been filed against police officials Nedelko Spasojevic, Radeta Basara, Zharko Jovanovic, but also against Ivanovic's secretary, Silvana Arsovic, and Marko Rosic, a citizen of North Mitrovica.

On October 19, 2022, the Kosovo Police arrested a member of the Serbian community, MM, under suspicion that he is a member of "an organized criminal group" linked to the murder.
