UN watchdog: Iran could be capable of enriching uranium within 'a few months'

The head of the UN nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, Raphael Grossi said that Iran could have the capacity to produce enriched uranium within a few months.

According to Rafael Grossi, Director General of the United Nations' International Atomic Energy Agency, Iran may be able to resume uranium enrichment within "a few months."

Meanwhile, during an interview with FOX News on Sunday, US President Donald Trump said sanctions on Iran could be lifted if they agree to move forward peacefully.

"We have the sanctions. But if they do what they need to do, if they can be peaceful and if they show us that they're not going to cause any more damage, I would lift them and that would make a big difference," Trump said.

During the exchange of words, Trump told the reporter that he had rejected Iran's request to enrich uranium during negotiations.

"I would not have allowed that to happen," Trump said. /CNA
