Canadian Prime Minister visits Kyiv/ Support for Ukraine

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Kiev on Saturday in a show of support as Ukraine prepares for a major counteroffensive against Russian forces and faces regular airstrikes.

Trudeau paid tribute at a memorial site in central Kiev to Ukrainian soldiers who have been killed fighting pro-Russian forces since 2014.

NATO member Canada, which has one of the largest Ukrainian diasporas in the world, has offered military and financial aid to Ukraine during the full-scale invasion launched by Russia in February 2022, REL reports.

Trudeau's trip to Kiev followed a night of Russian missile and drone attacks on targets outside the capital, including Odesa, the Poltava region and Kharkiv.

In an attack in Odesa, three civilians were killed and dozens more were injured.
